Ford Ranger Raptor to be built in South Africa

After confirmation that Ford is developing a Ranger Raptor, and that it will be available in South Africa, Ford has confirmed that the Ranger Raptor will be assembled in South Africa from 2019.  This follows a R3-billion investment in the expansion of production capacity at Ford’s South African operations.

The announcement of the Ranger Raptor’s local production should come as no surprise given the success of the Ford Ranger in the domestic market – consistently vying for the top sales spot in NAAMSA stats on a monthly basis.

Whilst little is known about the Ford Ranger Raptor, it is suspected that power will be derived from a twin-turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine with outputs expected to be above 200kW and 600Nm.
