Next month at the Geneva International Motor Show, Honda has a rather special bunch of information to reveal to the world. Several reveals will be made, including that of the Civic Type R Concept, previewing the exterior styling of the upcoming Type R, as well as the drivetrain for the upcoming Honda NSX.
“Racing Car for the Road” – Civic Type R Concept
The 2015 Honda Civic Type R has already been spotted in testing, looking close to production ready – some journalists have even been given a chance to drive some of the development vehicles. We know that power is currently rated at 206kW, and that may climb to over 220kW, but next month Honda will reveal the Type R Concept, which will preview the exterior design of the Type R. The design sketch above shows sleek lines, integrated spoilers made of what looks to be carbon fibre, as well as brake ventilation ducts, and the quad tailpipes we’ve seen on the test spec Type R’s.
With 2015 looming ever closer, Honda’s super-hatch is eagerly awaited.
Advanced Technology Leadership – FCEV Concept
In addition to the Type R Concept, Honda will also display their next-generation fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV), with a sleek new design pointing towards the future of Honda’s electric vehicles. The next-gen FCEV will debut in the USA and Europe in 2015, and South Africa may receive it thereafter if our electric market grows.
Honda NSX Drivetrain
Perhaps the most exciting news on the Honda stand in Geneva is the reveal of the drivetrain setup for the highly anticipated NSX supercar. The mid-engined NSX will feature a longitudinally mounted, direct-injection, twin-turbo V6. Supplementing the engine will be Honda’s 3-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® (Super Handling All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system. Whilst power outputs are still under wraps, information leaked previously suggests power in the same region as the Ferrari 458 Italia, around 430kW.
2014 Civic World Touring Car Championship livery
Also on display at the Honda stand will be the 2014 Civic WTCC livery.
