Mercedes-Benz Reveals S63 AMG Coupe:

Mercedes’ most beautiful coupe has gone to the blokes at AMG for a bit of fiddling, it’s what they do best.  They’ve tinkered and toyed and given us the gorgeous S63 AMG Coupe in fine fettle, complete with a 5.5-litre V8.

Yes, Mercedes-Benz have stuck with the familiar 5.5-litre biturbo V8 monster found in the S63 AMG, with power outputs of 430kW and 900Nm.  The V8 is mated with an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sport transmission driving the rear wheels, which Merc claim will shunt the S63 AMG Coupe from standstill to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, on to a limited top speed of 250km/h, despite its hefty weight of 1995Kg, which Mercedes claim is 65Kg lighter than its predecessor.

If the already sonorous AMG V8, with matching performance figures, wasn’t enough to tickle your fancy, then the AMG sports exhaust system equipped to the Coupe should do the trick, with exhaust flaps in both rear silencers that adapt the sound per driving mode.

The S63 AMG Coupe features a host of exciting innovations, much like its sedan counterpart.  Amongst those is the curve tilting function, which works in tandem with the Magic Body Control system to adapt to lean the coupe into curves and corners, much like a motorcyclist – reducing lateral G-forces on the occupants, translating to greater levels of comfort.  It is only active between 30km/h and 180km/h.

Along with nifty tech and high power, the S63 AMG Coupe has lost weight.  Aiding this has been the equipping of AMG forged lightweight alloy wheels as standard, reducing weight and increasing rigidity of the wheel.  The multi-spoke 19-inch alloys are fitted with 255/45 front tyres and 285/40 rear tyres.  20-inch 10-spoke titanium grey wheels are available as an optional extra.  Stopping power housed within the wheels is thanks to the AMG ceramic high-performance composite brake system.

AMG touches have been added to both the exterior and interior of the S63 AMG Coupe, with a sportier look, AMG twin-blade grill and quad exhaust pipes highlighting the exterior, and the AMG sports seats, AMG badging, three-spoke AMG steering wheel, and large, split screen instrument/infotainment screen highlighting the interior.

Mercedes-Benz, you’ve gone and done it – you took your most beautiful coupe and made it better!
