Opel ADAM ROCKS S’ Dutch debut:

Opel’s newest boutique super-mini hatchback, the ADAM, has hit the ground running in South Africa, selling 162 units last month, with huge marketing force being put behind the new arrival.  But with the hotter ADAM S and SUV-ified ADAM ROCKS under consideration for the local market, Opel has revealed a sporty combination of the crossover SUV and warm super-mini that might soon also be scrutinised for local launch – the ADAM ROCKS S.

The new model, revealed this week in Amsterdam, combines the growing SUV appeal and trendiness of the ADAM ROCKS with the sportiness of the ADAM S to create a ‘sporty mini-crossover’.  Powered by a new generation 1.4-litre turbo 4-cylinder engine, the ADAM ROCKS S features a spritely 110kW and 220Nm, which Opel claim gets the ROCKS S from 0-100km/h in 8.5 seconds, mated to a close ratio 6-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels.

The 3.75 metre long mini-crossover features a 15mm lower performance sports chassis, and a high performance OPC-derived braking system to help make sure it handles adeptly and stops equally as well.

The ROCKS S features a retractable soft-top roof, carried over from the standard ROCKS, and will feature a host of toys from the crossover and hatchback siblings.  There’s no word yet on whether or not the ADAM ROCKS S will make it to our shores, but we know it’ll definitely be under consideration with GMSA’s product planners.
