Following a long list of accolades, the Alfa Romeo 4C now has another feather in its cap, as it has now been named as the safety car for the 2014 World Touring Car Championship season.
The decision was taken after the 4C won the “Most Beautiful Car of 2013” award at the 29th International Automobile Festival of Paris. The baby-Alfa will be dressed in special two-tone black and red livery for the duration of its safety car duties, with chequered detailing, and additional carbon fibre detailing such as the headlamp clusters.
The Alfa Romeo 4C used will be a standard production version of the coupe, utilising a 176kW 1750 Turbo Petrol engine, with 350Nm, which in conjunction with the TCT transmission and rear-wheel drive layout, takes the 4C from standstill to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. The light weight coupe weighs a mere 895Kg, aiding in acceleration and handling ability.
The 4C safety car will make its first appearance at the Moulay El Hassan Circuit of Marrakech (Morocco) on 12 and 13 April, for the first round of the WTCC season.
